Roofing projects are a two-way street. While there are things you want your roofing contractor to know about yourself and what you want to get out of your project, they also have things they’d like you to know about themselves and their work, which can greatly help in streamlining the roofing process and ensuring you get the best results for your roofing investment.
These include:
1. They want to work with crew members they trust – You may want to hire someone separate from their team. However, you should know that your contractor already has a network of people whom they trust. They are aware of these people’s abilities. If you insist on adding another person, you’re asking them to work with someone they don’t know. Hiring people that are not part of the contractor’s team also gives rise to the possibility of sloppy roofing work because not everyone will be up to speed with the contractor’s quality standards.
2. They prefer new materials over reusing old ones – It’s tempting to reuse old doors and other materials, but you should also know that your contractor knows what’s best for your project. They want new materials because some of the old materials can be damaged upon removal. If you insist on reusing the old materials, it can also result in failure soon after, which in turn can make you spend more than you should.
3. They’re not scamming you by doing extra work- Some contractors may tell you that they’ll do extra work. Don’t feel stressed about it. They’re only doing it for your sake. If they don’t offer the extra tasks, you make experience issues in the future.
4. They want specific details – Whether it’s a window replacement or a roof installment, they want to know your specific expectations of the project. Properly tell them your thoughts. Through this, they’ll find out the things they need to focus on during the job.
